1978 | 1-sided promo 7" | Steve Strange Project: In the Year 2525 |
In the Year 2525 (3.40)
Midge Ure: instruments, Rusty Egan: percussion, Steve Strange: vocals.
An extremely rare promo single. The cover is white, name and title is printed in yellow.
They recorded three tracks using studio time left over from 'Rich Kids':
'In The Year 2525', 'The Eve of Destruction' (both are covers)
and 'All the King's Horses' (written by all three of them).
They used these tapes to secure a record deal by sending them to record companies.
Thanks to Richard Peat for finding this info in an article.
Al Crawford: 'Visage arose from the wreckage of the late 70s 'supergroup' The Rich Kids.
This group, which both Ure and Egan had been members of, disbanded leaving
Ure with several hours of unused studio time. After Ure and Egan (plus
three others) formed the short lived Misfits, he donated this time to Steve
Strange, who was looking to record some 'futuristic disco' for his Blitz
club. The studio group they put together became Visage and the track
recorded in that session was a cover of Zager and Evans' In the Year 2525.'
Tar 3.27 [single version]/Frequency 7 (3.05) (Radar, ADA 48)
Steve Strange: vocals, Midge Ure: guitar, Rusty Egan: drums/saxophone,
Billy Currie: keyboards, John McGeogh: guitar, Dave Formula: keyboards,
Barry Adamson: bass. Both tracks written by all.
