24 Aug 2022 | Japanese CD | KOOL HITS, KURIOSITIES & KOLLABORATIONS |
Korgis fb 8 July 2022: "A couple of weeks ago James popped into Al's studio Shabbey Rd to add a few finishing vocals to the Japanese album, 'Kool Hits, Kuriosities & Kollaborations'. He added some extra air guitar at the same time!"
"When a band has been going as long as The Korgis, there are invariably songs that are 'lying around' and might not really fit into an album. When you add to these new versions of the old hits, then the numbers can really mount up and BOOM!... before you know it, there is a whole album worth of interesting songs. The first ever demo 'Lines' here worked up into the definitive Korgis version. What would 'If I Had You' have sounded like if The Korgis of 1979 had been able to afford real strings? What would 'Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime' have sounded like if James Warren had written it on guitar? These old/new classics are coupled with alternative versions of songs from 'Kartoon World' plus some unreleased songs. The first every song that James and Al Steele wrote together... 'Happy Man'. We have also included the sumptuous 2022 collaboration with Ozzie legend Joe Matera, 'Always a Sunny Day'. Even if it is cold and grey we hope that these songs will bring the sun out in your world."

"UN-United Nations is a double concept album, but we are releasing them one by one - not to be mean! - just to give us a chance to really focus on each nix AND to introduce a little suspense into the bargain! The 'Blue' album will be on Pre-release just before Christmas as we figure they would make the IDEAL pressie! CD's arriving with us mid-Jan and Vinyl inevitably a bit later. To be honest this also helps with our cash flow as CD and Vinyl are not cheap these days! Did I just say VINYL?!!! Yes both the 'Blue' and 'Red' album will be in both formats and there will be some hefty discounts for anyone who wants the damn lot! That will take the form of a box set and there will be space to add the 'Red' CD and Vinyl when it appears around June. Of course there will be posters included, stories and lyrics!"

"The Korgis homage to Charlie Chaplin. Set in Hollywood at the end of the silent film era and celebrating his astonishing work through his long life. In these days of Cancel Culture, the chorus asks only to judge his work separately from his personal life. This is a co-write between Ian Cooper, Al Steele and James Warren and certainly a standout track from UN-United Nations BLUE."
17 Feb 2024 | YouTube single | Beginnings - Mud Huts |
"Why not start a new album with full orchestra and then Danielle Nicholls singing about the first human beings that walked the planet? Then James Warren chimes in with 'when the world began' and we begin a new Korgis adventure UN-United Nations BLUE is an album of great diversity both musically and in terms of subject matter. The first disc of a double album spins us around the globe and tells stories from many different locations. Mud Huts casts doubt on 'the progress of man' which is incidentally the title of a book to be read from near the end of the 2nd RED album. Compare the 70s tower blocks to the Parthenon and you will get the gist. It is not only our buildings that illustrate the backward progression of mankind... we seem to have lost compassion for our fellow man, instead focusing on trashing his achievements (usually on Faceless Social Media) rather then celebrating them. We will see where this all leads us at the end of the RED album... but in the February of 2024 that is a few months away."

"All the songs on UN-United Nations BLUE & RED are centred on locations in the world. This one is Memphis, Tennessee - but not when Elvis was there - instead we zone in on the day Martin Luther King was killed. This song has 3 verses and 3 different perspectives on that day. We couldn't help but get into the Civil Rights Campaign as well."
