The CD version of 'Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime' includes some previously unreleased lyrics: 'Everyday / So confused inside / Everyday / You know we live such [life?] / I feel so helpless / When will we see the light'. This version was obviously used by mistake, instead of the original version.

On this single version some backing vocals are edited out at the very end. Thanks to Marc Stüwe for information on the 12" single.

  10. Living on the Rocks 3.30 [James Warren] (LP: ALTO 103; CD 29 Nov 1999: Edsel EDCD 623)
Recorded Dec 1980 - Feb 1981 at Crescent Studios in Bath, England. The different CD version of 'Nowhere To Run' was surely used by mistake. It sounds a bit rougher and possibly it was recorded as a demo.

25 Sep 1981 7" Don't Say That It's Over

Don't Say That It's Over 2.47 [Single Remix] / Drawn and Quartered 3.17 (Rialto, TREB 142)
This single remix has a guitar solo instead of the synth solo on the LP version.

30 July 1982 non-LP 7" Don't Look Back

    Don't Look Back 4.16 [Warren] / Xenophobia 2.30 [Warren] (London/Decca, LON 7)
This single is available on the 2003 Korgis double CD compilation 'DON'T LOOK BACK: THE VERY BEST OF THE KORGIS'.

late 1983 James Warren/Korgis performance in Bath

Info from Tim Hawkins: "The Korgis appeared live at the Theatre Royal in Bath in late November or very early December 1983. The live musicians comprised James on guitar and occasional keyboards (and incidentally a yodel solo spot in authentic alpine costume) plus his then girl-friend (I believe), Maggie Stewart, on keyboards and, er, dancing. There were backing tapes. It was a free entry with voluntary contributions in buckets on the way out. James sang a large number of songs which have never seen the light of day: 'Friends' was in the vein of 'Living on the Rocks' [my comments: "Friends" is actually a Stackridge song]. Some of the songs might have appeared on an album on London Records if 'Don't Look Back' had been successful."

This original vinyl LP has the same cover as the 'If I Had You' single. It is divided into 'Slow Side' (side A) and 'Fast Side' (side B).

1988 Japanese coll-CD THE BEST OF THE KORGIS [1979-81]

  1. Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime 4.13
  2. If I Had You 3.54
  3. All the Love in the World 3.38 [single edit]
  4. I Just Can't Help It 3.44 [single remix]
  5. If It's Alright With You Baby 4.01
  6. That Was My Big Mistake 4.01 [single edit]
  7. Christmas in Japan 2.14 [previously unreleased]
  8. Domestic Bliss 3.07
  9. O Maxine 2.36
  10. Don't Say That It's Over 2.46
  11. Drawn and Quartered 3.17
  12. It's No Good Unless You Love Me 3.22
  13. Rovers Return 2.30 (Midi Inc. 28MD-1001; reissue CD 1993: MDCP-4001)
The Japanese CD has the original LP cover, and also includes lyrics. Basically a CD version of the LP, with one previously unreleased extra track "Christmas in Japan". It is listed as "Wish You a Merry Christmas" on the back cover, a track that replaced "I Just Can't Help It" on the French original LP, so my guess is that the Japanese record company intended to use it but got hold of a previously unreleased (Christmas-related) track by mistake instead.

April 1990 UK coll-CD/MC THE BEST OF & THE REST OF THE KORGIS [1979-81]

  1. Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime 4.13

  4. I Just Can't Help It 3.44 [single remix]
  5. If It's Alright With You Baby 4.01
  6. That Was My Big Mistake 4.01 [single edit]
  7. Christmas in Japan 2.14 [only on first CD edition]
  8. Domestic Bliss 3.07
  9. O Maxine 2.36
  10. Don't Say That It's Over 2.46
  11. Drawn and Quartered 3.17
  12. It's No Good Unless You Love Me 3.22
  13. Rovers Return 2.30 (Action Replay CDAR 1015/MCAR 1015)
New title and cover picture, but no booket. "Christmas in Japan" is not listed on the back cover, and was only included on the first CD edition. The "Rest Of" in the CD title is a bit weird, as it has no "rare" tracks listed on the cover, but the CD is part of a CD series.

  17. Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime (DNA '93 Housey 7" remix) 3.51 (Sanctuary/Castle Music, CMDDD 673)
An excellent compilation with extensive liner notes based on an interview with James Warren himself, as well as colour photos of all singles. But why on earth did they not include the few B-sides and rare single remixes that exist?? (the B-side 'Wish You a Merry Christmas', the rare track 'Christmas in Japan' and the single remix of 'Don't Say That It's Over').
