Robin told me 3 Feb 2006 about the CD release: "Yes this has been in the pipeline for sometime.
There was an article, celebrating me and my contemporaries on the
singer songwriter scene way back, in 'Record Collector' in Dec 05.
The journalist Richard Mortimer has an interesting specialist label which I felt was appropriate for WFTWG."

Robin's song is the first track on LP side 2. Ian Harris told me 24 March 2003:
"A track in the vein of the Woman From The Warm Grass album but a bit rockier".

16 Nov 1979 | 7"/12" | Moonlight and Muzak |
Moonlight and Muzak 4.00 [single edit]/Woman Make Man 2.15 (7": MCA 541)
Moonlight and Muzak 5.35 [LP version]/Woman Make Man 2.15 (1st 12": MCAT 541)
Moonlight and Muzak [extended version] 6.03/Woman Make Man 2.15 (2nd 12": MCAT 541)
Info from Jim: "There were two 12" singles of "Moonlight & Muzak" originally issued in the UK.
The first 12" was the LP version. It was issued in a picture cover (the
perfume bottle) on the MCA label, catalog # MCAT541. A second 12" was
issued with the same cover, labels and catalog number, etc! But this second
12" contained the extended remix. The only way to tell the two 12"'s apart
was a small sticker affixed to the cover of the second 12" that had the
words 'new mix'."

Satisfy Your Lust 3.22 [edited from the extended version] (7": MCA 570)
That's the Way the Money Goes 10.29 [extended version by Nick Launay]/
Satisfy Your Lust 6.59 [extended version by Nick Launay] (12": MCAT 570)
That's the Way the Money Goes (Part 1 & 2) 10.40 (Special 12" Remix by M)/
Cowboys & Indians 5.30 (Special 12" Remix by M) (US promo 12": Sire, PRO-A-851)
Clive described the B-side versions: "The 7" version (which features some orchestra strings on the
beginning and a drum/bass 'breakdown' at the end) is actually an edit of the longer 12" version.
The 12" version is basically an instrumental mix of Moderne Man (orchestral album version)
also with that 'strings' intro and 'breakdown' ending - but with Satisfy Your Lust left intact."

1985 | various artists LP | LIVE AT THE ZAP CLUB |
- Robin Scott: Kiss of Life 3.58 (Zap Records, ZAP001LP)
Ian Harris: 'It states all tracks recorded live at the Zap Club, Brighton,
though this is not the case, as last track side two is Robin Scott's 'Kiss
of Life'. This is a different version to those backing the Eureka re-issue,
and sounds to me like a demo version (it lacks the female backing singers).
There is an insert, with a photo of Robin, and the following text:
'ROBIN SCOTT...the Pied Piper of Pop...an idea so simple and
ingenious,...Pop Music [sic]...(popular, a.of the people.) Where is M
now? Who knows? New York? London ? Japan? Africa!...a world of
musicial influences. Be seeing you...welcome to THE KISS OF LIFE.'
The credits state all tracks produced by John Watts.'

Spiritual Man [Mix 2] 4.10 //
Spiritual Man [Mix 3] 4.56/
Spiritual Man [Mix 4] 3.50
Ian Harris found this promo 12". He says: "It appears to be a promo, with only the M logo on each label with no
credits and no sleeve. It features 4 different mixes of Spiritual Man, the matrix number on
the run out groove is LOT001." The press release says:
"M - Spiritual Man.
No need to talk about the past - just concentrate on the present.
"Spiritual Man" is a great new single from M, who have been silent
for a very long time indeed. At the moment the track, which comes in
four excellent mixes, is unsigned and therefore only exsists in
very limited 12" white label form - and the white labels are only
available from us ["Rush Release Limited" - Ian].
The mixes of Spiritual Man cover enough ground to appeal to a wide
range of music lovers, as you'll soon hear. Once you sort out which
side is which, you'll hear the ambient techno stylings of the two
mixes on side A - which both come complete with deep and dubby bass
lines, Lebanese female vocals, African chants and childlike vocal
hooks (check the second mix for seriously silly bottom end and
digeridoo) - and the more directly song based mixes on side two,
which seem to be coming more out of the "Deep Forest" school. All
in all one of them is bound to capture the attention of all but the
most jungle fixated.
"Spiritual Man" is an excellent, mysterious record, and it makes for
a very interesting return for the excellent and mysterious M.
Play it!".

Ian Harris' comments from Jan 19th 2000:
"Last night I got hold of 3 different 12" promos of Pop Y2K.
They come in colour-co ordinated sleeves featuring "pop y2k" printed in
reverse on the front, the reverse features "pop y2k" printed the
right way round and a "millennium bug" in a warning triangle.
All the labels say 45rpm, when in fact all 3 records are 33rpm.
The Sunshine State and Olmec Heads versions feature new vocals from
Robin along with the original Pop Muzik samples. The Sunshine state
is the only one to actually mention "Y2K", I assume that when the
track is officially released this will be the "lead" mix.".
Thanks to Tim Brooks for info on the 4-track promo CD.

"A retrospective double CD which includes previously unreleased material recorded between 1968 and 1998." ...
"Life Class is the definitive Robin Scott collection. The first ever release on the sparkling new Yup! Records, this limited edition double CD album gathers together the very best moments from a very diverse artist.
It is an album that documents the familiar as well as the obscure - ranging from that definitive 80s moment (released under Robin's pseudonym "M") 'Pop Muzik', to tracks taken from Robin's fifth album featuring the South African female trio 'Shikisha', as well as unreleased tracks unearthed from personal archives."
Only available from www.robinscott.org "and at Coco de Mer in Covent Garden, the location of my next show
featuring artwork on the site which runs through to Xmas".
Yup! Records press release: "Robin Scott, writer and performer of the M classic 'Pop Muzik', has returned
to his roots to form an independent label but this time it's virtual! The
first release on Yup! Records is Robin's retrospective album 'Life Class' in
response to the continued interest from an international on line cult
following.
Have a look at the new site and the release at www.robinscott.org
The title of this flagship album project "Life Class" has been married with
his artwork comprising two CDs of material recorded pre and post Pop Muzik:
The first includes a selection of titles previously released commercially.
The second CD includes tracks which have remained part of his own archive of
unreleased material. Some dates back to John Peel's 'Night Ride' sessions in
the early 70s. There are also various bedroom demos from the same period and
a number of as yet unreleased studio masters from the last two decades which
document his musical diversity.
The groundbreaking design for the CD package has evolved from the creation
of a body of art work by Robin, reflecting his fine art background as a
painter. A recent London exhibition of this current collection has
subsequently been simulated in a virtual gallery at www.robinscott.org
Visitors to this colourful virtual space can experience a rich interactive
audio visual tour of ''the life class collection' before browsing the online
shop where prints and CDs are available to order.
In between promotional activities, Robin is back in the studio preparing new
work for 2004.
'Life Class' is exclusively available from www.robinscott.org for £16
including post & packaging.
The first 500 copies will be personally autographed by Robin."

LATEST NEWS FROM ROBIN 10 July 2007: "I am currently preparing for an Australian tour and rehearsing a new line up with my new material with recordings planned this Autumn."
27 July 2007:"I'm off for a tour in Oz on the 10th Aug for a month which is all a bit bizarre really. It's based on a TV show called Countdown which was the Australian equivalent of our Top of the Pops.
It includes a number of artists from the eighties who enjoyed success down under. Currently I'm forming a a new band and road testing mterial for an album."
