Steel Cathedrals 18.51 (limited edition of 2,000)
"This short film was shot in two days of
November 1984 in, and around the outskirts of, Tokyo, Japan. A large part of
the music was completed during that same month and recorded over a
period of three days. I later updated the material in London, in an
attempt to elaborate on the theme started earlier in Japan, and to
further improve the quality of the soundtrack." DS, Aug 1985.

March 1988 | lyrics book | Trophies - The Lyrics of David Sylvian |
An absolutely beautiful book, no longer in stock. My copy is the second edition
in April 1988. It contains four unknown lyrics (Nagarkot, Lilith, The Colour
of Roses, Ride) David Sylvian: 'The unreleased tracks in 'Trophies' were never
recorded (with the exception of 'Ride' which I shall release) and I've no recollection
on their form and melodies!! 'Nagarkot' was never set to music being the only
poem included in the collection.'.

loose track of potential, true potential. Really misunderstand the purpose of being here."
Alphabet Angel: "It's actually song for my first daughter Mira."
Krishna Blue: "I enjoy Indian classical music. My teacher - my guru - Harbie (?)
wanted to phrase it, had very strong connection, with Krishna as a divine mother.
A song about her, my relationship with her. Seemed natural to incorporate with the image of Krishna."
The Shining of Things: "Ending of the previous relationship. I did have some kind of spiritual
practice but kind fell apart during that period ... but I felt I'd
never lost my faith, never lost my believe. It was hard for me to hold
onto it the times. It's kinda documents of the period."
Café Europa: "It's about Ingrid and I first met."
Pollen Path: "Ingrid and I working together initially but it didn't develop so I took over for myself."
All of My Mother's Names: "There is a lot of improvisations but all recorded in a piece mill. None
of the musicians were worked together in a room."
Wanderlust: "I am very fond of this piece too. I think it's a stronger lyrics in the album."
Praise: "The opening track is sung by Indian saint named Shree Maa who came to
visit us in Minneapolis ... just being around presence of the people
like that have so much love for life. They understand the shadow too.
Also understand difficulty of world's going to face but doesn't deter them
in terms of their focus what has to be done."
Darkest Dream: "The last track throws in some doubt. Sense of isolation, sense of
being alone... communion. Merging with one consciousness... but it also
allows that the dark side --human side-- which is we feel terribly alone.
There is a yearning for this partner in life which can be a physical
partner, or your partnership with god if you like." (Interview conducted by Sally Stratton)

The original version of Damage, released in 1994, was produced by Robert Fripp. Issued initially as a limited edition,
the album sold out in a matter of weeks. Rather than just re-issue that version the new David Sylvian mix tells the story of the same concerts from the singer's perspective.
Sylvian has also decided to include Jean The Birdman, appearing on the album as an alternative to Darshan."
