Recorded 16 Oct 1977. A third track called 'Out of Sight' was recorded the same day but it was not released at the time. The A-side was remixed on 23 Dec by Mick Glossop before it was released, so it was not their 'original' mix that was used on the single. Only 4,000 singles were manufactured.

The main sessions for REPLICAS took place in January 1979. 'We Are So Fragile' was recorded on 18 Feb 1979.

"The Replicas Redux 2008 Tour Edition features, on CD1, the original Replicas album [recorded Jan 1979] and B-sides; on CD2, the previously released 'out-takes' such as 'We Have A Technical', 'Only A Downstat' etc plus earlier versions [recorded Dec 1978] of all the tracks that appeared on the original album. Beggars Banquet have also put together a special 3 CD Deluxe edition of Replicas Redux which will be exclusive to fans who buy the album through NuWorld. This third CD is a six track EP of early demos plus alternative versions and mixes, including different recordings of 'Are 'Friends' Electric?' and 'Replicas'. It will be housed in a cardboard wallet and will only be available from the NuWorld shop as part of the limited Deluxe edition 3 CD package."

'Dramatis' was Gary's back-up band consisting of Chris Payne (keyboards and viola), Rrussell Bell (guitar), Denis Haines (keyboards) and Cedric Sharpley (drums). Gary sang on 'Love Needs No Disguise' (the music and lyrics was written by Dramatis), and he also wrote and sung on 'Face to Face' (which in reality is a Gary Numan track, not a Dramatis track).
