25 Dec 2000 | project CD | CONTRAST: EDO-II/PURPLE PROJECT |
(P-Vine, PCD-5613)
10-track CD. I quote someone else: "It was produced by Hideki and seems to be his most recent album of all new work.
He is producer and plays as a trio with a shamisen player and a second keyboardist.
While this album is not billed as a Logic System album his credits are all followed by (Logic System) in parenthisis.
As far as I can tell 'Contrast' is the trio's name. 'Edo-II' points out that this is a follow up to his album Contrast Edo,
recorded over 20 years ago with the same trio of artists. Edo is the ancient name of Tokyo. I guess this project is called
Purple Project. It combines traditional japanese music with Jazz, pop and sequencing of old and new electronic sounds."

A review by Theo Spadlo: "I think it probably is their weakest album to date.
There's only one really great song on it: NATURE (BEAT MUSIK).
The opening track, GLORY, is also quite good.
"Soundwise", the album is excellent, but from a compositional point of view there are some pretty weak songs on it.
ALL I WANT IS YOU sounds completely out of place and the remix of the song is nothing more than a fill-up,
as are the remake versions of DOMINO DANCE and AUTOMATIC COLLECT, AUTOMATIC CORRECT which sound nowhere near as good as the original versions.
Pretty weak vocals too compared to the wonderful Chinese voices on the Logic System albums TO-GEN-KYO (1991) and SPACE POLYPHONY (1992)."
