Only available from Elessar Tetramariner: 'I've produced a limited-issue cd of Stackridge rarities. None of these
versions of the songs (and in some case, none of the tracks) have
appeared (to my knowledge) on cd or lp. There are 2 tracks from a Mutter
Slater 80s band called Rave To The Grave (from an ep), an Andy Davis
single, 2 sides of a Mutter Slater single, but the rest is all live
Stackridge, from radio broadcasts, soundchecks, John Peel sessions,
Capitol One radio shows. I can't set a price on the cd's worth, so I am asking for a donation
against my work & expenses. If you want a copy let me know at:
Elessar Tetramariner,
910 Pauline Blvd.,
Ann Arbor, MI. 48103
U.S.A.
I accept most kinds of donations. Checks, money orders, cash. No credit
cards, though. If you need to send me foreign currency or payment
coupons, I'll give them a try at my bank!
Andy Davis has been told of the project and has no objection, and has
requested a copy of the cd (which was dispatched yesterday) [13 Oct 1998].
You can send me mail at: elessar@tetramariner.com
The cd comes with a 3 page insert, and
a track listing with times & location on the back.'

"STACKRIDGE's Record Company did not like the finished result of 'Mr Mick' and ordered the removal of most of the dialogue.
As the album was based around a poem, this wholesale remodelling did not please the band much. Even so, the released result was not without it’s charm.
The original album never before released is included in it’s entirety as CD1 and the album released to the public remastered as CD2."

1976 | guest musicians LP | SHORTWAVEBAND: THE SHORTWAVEBAND'S GREATEST HATS |
Phil Harrison told me 9 April 2002: "The SWBs Greatest Hats" was originally a vinyl album (produced by David Lord and us)
released 1976 featuring a particular part of SWBs repertoire (i.e. the trad. tunes rather than the original songs).
Much later (don't remember the year) it was rereleased as a cassette (Libra Realsound LRS111) by a company specialising in
'real' recordings: it fitted their bill because we recorded almost the whole thing straight to stereo - no mixing - in analog days buffs liked this kind of stuff."

12 Jan 1981 | various artists LP | THE BRISTOL RECORDER # 2 |
- The Welders: Voices 2.57 (Bristol Recorder, BR002)
Thanks to David Bateman for info. He told me that it was a magazine including a vinyl LP in each issue.
It was published from: The Recorder, 18 Ambrose Road, Cliftonwood, Bristol 8. Sleeve info:
“The studio tracks on this album were recorded and mixed from 16 to 20 October, 1980, at Crescent Studios, 144 Walcot Street, Bath.
They were engineered and produced by David Lord, assisted by the wonderful Steve Street.”
Sleeve note for THE WELDERS: "Phil Harrison: keyboards, drums. Stuart Gordon: guitars, vocals, percussion. James Warren: Tesco bass, backing vocals.
This group of talented young musicians from Bath score zero on the musical credibility stakes: no aggression; no deep and intense emotions;
no urban alienation; just this strange passion to write nice pop songs. Do they exist? Are they really Welders? Is this meaningful?
Is this the sort of thing that should appear on independent albums? Is rock music dead? How many records have this group sold in France?
Is there really a spelling mistake in ‘intence’?"

28 April 2003 | CD | GOLDFRAPP: BLACK CHERRY |
Jim Timothy told me on 14 march 2003: "I saw Andy / Goldfrapp live in
Northampton last week and managed a few words with him after the gig. I
think you'll find he features much more on Goldfrapp's second album,
Black Cherry. He played most of the keyboards on the live set.
Will Gregory, for some reason, spent the
entire gig at the front of house mixing desk (which he also did at
Cambridge the previous night).
Goldfrapp also have the superb Davide Rossi on violin. He was earmarked
late last year to become Stackridges new fiddler for the Lemon CD but
for some reason or other this never happened, maybe because he was, at
the time, touring with the Cirque du Soleil." Jim added 21 May 2003: "Andy has now left Goldfrapp".
