Tracks 1-5 on CD 1 are early demos recorded 1977-78 at Craighall Studios in Edinburgh.
The rest of the songs were recorded during the early sessions for 'The Affectionate Punch' at Morga Studios in London 1979-80.
Tracks 5-10 on CD 2 were recorded in May 1993 during the MacKanzie/Rankine reunion ("The Auchterhouse Demos")".

Stewart Morrison informed me: "The version of Club Country on the 1982 UK Sulk is not included on the V2 CD version.
It is entirely different from the 12" mix or the hatchet job 7" edit V2 replaced it with. The 1982 UK LP versiont is, of course,
the very best version and essential for the smooth flow of Sulk."
The CD reissue omits the following SULK related tracks:
It's Better This Way (B-side version), Club Country (Extended Version),
Party Fears Two (extended), A.G It's You Again, and Voluntary Wishes Swap-it Production.

Linda Wren, who knew Billy well, told the Associates mailing list 20 March 1999:
"The original A.P was always classed as a bit strange and weird for the general pop listening population.
So someone had the bright idea of re-mixing it so it would appeal and sound more 'pop friendly'.
It probably got onto CD for the same reasons. Billy couldn't stand it and felt he had sold himself for doing it."
