"In 1970, years before the term 'new wave' was invented in music, Eric Stewart, a former member of The Mindbenders and The Emperors Of Rhythm, brought a few friends together in the studio to record a single under the name The New Wave Band. With Lek Leckenby from Herman’s Hermits in to play acoustic guitar alongside Eric Stewart they recorded an excellent cover of the Simon and Garfunkel hit 'Cecilia'. Lol Creme and Kevin Godley were also on the sessions doing backup vocals and playing bass and drums respectively. The B-side 'Free Free Free' was one of the first tracks Eric Stewart recorded after Inter City Studios, originally located over the Neild and Hardy hi-fi store in Stockport, moved to new premises and re-opened as Strawberry Studios in the Waterloo Road building. Harvey Lisberg of Kennedy Street Enterprises is credited as producer on the record label, but it was Eric Stewart who did the job." [https://www.discogs.com/master/840280-The-New-Wave-Band-Cecilia]
